Dick Gaughan: June 18th 2004
I first heard this voice sing The Auchengeich Disaster on CD but this did nothing to prepare me for this later singing style. He has a vigour in his playing and passion in his voice. He is equally at home with traditional ballads, Rabbie Burns or contemporary song including the humour of Matt Maginn. But he has this burning passion to comment on the plight of the under priviledged. The clubroom was packed with enthusiasts, another sell-out. Rachel the landlady sold over thirty tickets in the pub! Dick has a wide appeal in Leeds, and he’ll be back.
