Roger brings his own style of song, guitar and sense of fun wherever he goes, interspersed with stories about the music, some of which are even partly true. He’s been known to throw in some blues and even jazz into the mix, but always with the audience in mind.
Roger Sutcliffe plays a variety of guitar styles on several types of guitar - mainly acoustic - so that despite the fact that his repertoire is almost entirely blues he always maintains the interest of his audience. His songs are usually interspersed with stories about the music or his own experiences ( some of which are partly true) means that the crowd usually wears a smile as broad as Roger’s own.
Roger usually performs solo, and has done so for over thirty years although he has at times worked in a duo format or band with such people as Nick Strutt (ex NatchezTrace) Maartin Allcock (ex Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull) and Brendan Croker (Notting Hillbillies).
He has also occasionally played alongside such divers people as Johnny Silvo, John James, Derek Brimstone, Marilyn Middleton-Pollock, Eddie Walker, Cathy Wintger, Diz Disley, and Phil Shackleton.
