Having been told not to call himself a folk singer (apparently it puts people off &mdsh; or so a folk club organiser once told him), Sam describes his repertoire as ‘traditional acoustic pop’. With this coverall he makes little apology for leaping from the funny to the touching without warning.
He handles traditional songs beautifully, and often with a twist, making even old favourites seem new and exciting. He has the ability to find a folk arrangement out of the most ‘punk rock’ of original tracks — the less traditional end of acoustic pop?
