Fran Hughes

Fran Hughes has been coming regularly to the Grove over the past few months, and is a singer who has caught our attention.

She is to feature on the FRIDAY NIGHT OUT along with some friends she is to bring along for the evening.

And you can see by her ‘endorsements’ below that Fran can accept compliments with an optimistic sense of humour!

Fran Hughes and Friends

September 19th 2008

Fran has been singing folk music since the tender age of 11 years old when she was encouraged onto the folk scene by her aunty, Mary Fellowes.

After many years of singing together in folk clubs, they founded The Croppers Folk Club in 1985, which Fran continued to run in Cleckheaton after Mary’s death in 1999.

Since her unwilling departure from The Croppers in 2006, Fran has been visiting various clubs and has found a very warm welcome at The Grove where she is now considered a ’regular’.

Fran has press-ganged friends and family (and people who owe her money!) to sing with her at the Grove to feed her harmony addiction.

Recent endorsements of Fran’s talent include:-

“I liked your singing, Fran” - a sober bloke at the Grove

“Grrrreat!” - a drunk at the Grove

“That guitar’s very loud” - local celebrity artist

“Meow” - next door’s cat
