Whitney Gin: March 18th 2005
OVER THE PAST 21 YEARS, Whitney Gin have become an established part of the Northern Folk Scene, with their eclectic blend of musical styles and laid-back, tongue in cheek humour.
THE BAND IS VERY MUCH A FAMILY AFFAIR, including brothers, brothers-in-law, and next door neighbours which has resulted in an enviable stability and continuity over the years - just as well considering how long it takes them to arrange and rehearse new material!!
First and foremost, the band's speciality is vocal harmony, either acapella, or tastefully accompanied by guitar, bass, mandolin and keyboards. The material covers a huge span, from traditional unaccompanied folk ballads, through gospel, soul, and pop, to barbershop, with just about everything in between.
WHITNEY GIN HAVE BUILT UP A LOYAL FOLLOWING at many of the leading folkclubs in Yorkshire and the North, and have appeared at Folk Festivals in Cleckheaton, Otley, Wakefield and Stainsby. Their ability, range of material and variety make them a welcome addition to any event.
